Longtown UMC reaches out to our community throughout the year. 

 

 West Yadkin Backpack Program In cooperation with West Yadkin Elementary School, church volunteers stuff backpacks with healthy snacks.   These backpacks are sent home with 50 designated children each week. Start-up for this program were covered by a grant from The Duke Endowment.  You can sponsor a child for a school year for $200.

 

Longtown Chicken Stew and Gospel Sing Every January, Longtown UMC and Longtown Pentecostal Holiness Church sponsors this event to raise money for Yadkin Christian Ministries.  In 2010, we raised over $1300 for YCM's fuel fund.  Thank you to Dixie Dawn for donating their time and talent to this fundraiser.

 

Circles Initiative Longtown UMC is a primary sponsor of Circles in Yadkin County.  Circles is a program of Yadkin Christian Ministries designed to assist families to escape the cycle of poverty.  To volunteer or for more information, call 468-4151 or email circles@y-c-m.org.

 

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes Each month we collect a different item for Operation Christmas Child.  In July, we will be collecting toothbrushes.
